Great article, Ken! I agree; the best way to learn data science is to do data science. It’s important to understand the theory, but until you take action and experiment with your own algorithms, it’s impossible to know whether you’re really making progress. This need to learn by doing is something I try to emphasize with my own team at Evo. I hope more data scientists just starting out will take your lessons to heart.
